Bank of India (BoI) saw volume of 3.62 lakh shares, a 3.54-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.02 lakh shares. Sensex, Nifty attain over two year high
Key benchmark indices settled slightly higher during a special trading session conducted by the stock exchanges today, 11 May 2013. The S&P BSE Sensex, was up 39.70 points or 0.2%, off close to 25 points from the day's high and up about 70 points from the day's low. The Sensex and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, attained their highest closing level in more than two years. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. Index heavyweight and cigarette major ITC hit record high. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL) was slightly higher.
Pharma stocks rose on renewed buying. Pharma major Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rose 1.87% to Rs 952.70. The stock had scaled a record high of Rs 997.95 in intraday trade on 7 May 2013.
Among other pharma stocks, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Lupin, Ranbaxy Laboratories gained by 1.4% to 3.39%.
PSU OMCs rose after oil market companies hiked diesel prices by Rs 1.02 per litre, the fourth increase in rates this year. The prices will be effective from Saturday, 11 May 2013. HPCL, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and BPCL rose by 0.64% to 1.15%.

Federal-Mogul Goetze (India) clocked volume of 3.35 lakh shares by 13:39 IST on BSE, a 533.9-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock surged 8.93% to Rs 218.95.
Shriram Transport Finance Company notched up volume of 2.34 crore shares, a 508.44-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 46,000 shares. The stock surged 3.72% to Rs 761.40 after Piramal Enterprises acquired about 10% stake in Shriram Transport Finance Company through bulk deals on BSE today, 10 May 2013.
PEL today, 10 May 2013, announced that it has acquired 2.28 crore shares of Shriram Transport Finance Company, representing about 10% stake in the company. The company paid Rs 723 per share with a total consideration of Rs 1652 crore for the acquisition of the share. The transaction was consummated/completed on the floor of the exchange, PEL said in a statement.
New Delhi Television (NDTV) saw volume of 5.70 lakh shares, a 57.25-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 10,000 shares. The stock galloped 18.03% to Rs 88.70 after the company reported consolidated net profit of Rs 27.81 crore in Q4 March 2013, as against net loss of Rs 41.33 crore in Q4 March 2012. Consolidated revenue jumped 37.06% Rs 196 crore in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012. Operating profit galloped 425% to Rs 42 crore in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012. The company announced the Q4 results after market hours on Thursday, 9 May 2013.
Central Bank of India clocked volume of 7.72 lakh shares, a 9.71-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 80,000 shares. The stock surged 5.05% to Rs 72.85.
Orissa Minerals Development Company saw volume of 22,000 shares, a 5.31-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 4,000 shares. The stock surged 7.06% to Rs 2,980.10.

PNB's net profit fell 20.59% to Rs 1130.80 crore on 5.37% increase in total income to Rs 11552.84 crore in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012. The result was announced during trading hours today, 9 May 2013.
Venus Remedies saw volume of 2.16 lakh shares, a 6.35-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 34,000 shares. The stock surged 3.35% to Rs 313.
