Volumes jump at Kansai Nerolac Paints counter, Godrej Industries, JMT Auto, Ranbaxy Laboratories and Info Edge (India) are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 16 September 2013.
Kansai Nerolac Paints clocked volume of 1 lakh shares by 13:34 IST on BSE, a 343.34-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 292 shares. The stock fell 2.43% to Rs 1,078.05.
Godrej Industries notched up volume of 17.37 lakh shares, a 16.24-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.07 lakh shares. The stock fell 1.34% to Rs 287.10 after a block deal of 17.07 lakh shares was struck at Rs 294 per share at 13:05 IST on BSE.
JMT Auto saw volume of 9.04 lakh shares, a 8.03-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.13 lakh shares. The stock fell 9.86% to Rs 106.50.
Ranbaxy Laboratories clocked volume of 48.51 lakh shares, a 6.27-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 7.74 lakh shares. The stock slumped 27.73% to Rs 330.45 after the US Food and Drug Administration issued an import alert against company's Mohali plant. The FDA issued the alert on Friday, 13 September 2013. Ranbaxy Laboratories' plant in Mohali manufactures oral solids for export to the US, the European Union and other geographies. In May 2013, Ranbaxy Laboratories agreed to pay $500 million penalty to the US government to settle criminal and civil charges related to drug safety.
However, Ranbaxy clarified to the stock exchanges during trading hours today, 16 September 2013, that the Company has so far not received any communication from the US FDA on this subject. The company is seeking information from the US FDA in this regard, it added.
Info Edge (India) saw volume of 2.40 lakh shares, a 6.08-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 40,000 shares. The stock rose 3.28% to Rs 315.
