Volumes jump at Fresenius Kabi Oncology counter. Max India, Container Corporation of India, PC Jeweller and Bayer CropScience are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 23 July 2013.
Fresenius Kabi Oncology clocked volume of 10.95 lakh shares by 13:48 IST on BSE, a 144.13-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 8,000 shares. The stock was locked at 20% upper circuit at Rs 132.45 after market regulator Securities & Exchange Board of India in its order dated Monday, 22 July 2013, allowed the company to delist its shares from the Indian stock market.
Max India notched up volume of 7.51 lakh shares, a 57.63-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 13,000 shares. The stock lost 0.12% to Rs 199.90.
Container Corporation of India saw volume of 51,000 shares, a 51.88-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock lost 0.84% at Rs 1,119.95.
PC Jeweller clocked volume of 10.28 lakh shares, a 5.671-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.81 lakh shares. The stock galloped 15.67% at Rs 86.
Bayer CropScience saw volume of 35,000 shares, a 4.33-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 8,000 shares. The stock tumbled 8.23% at Rs 1,605.05 after the company on Monday, 22 July 2013, announced share buyback through tender offer route at a steep discount to the ruling market price.
Bayer CropScience's board of directors at a meeting held on Monday, 22 July 2013, unanimously approved a buyback proposal for purchase by the company of up to 28.79 lakh equity shares of Rs 10 each, representing 7.29% of the total equity capital, from all the shareholders of the company on a proportionate basis through the tender offer route as at a price of Rs 1,580 per equity share, aggregating to approximately Rs 455 crore. The board noted the intention of the promoter group of the company to participate in the proposed buyback. The buyback would be subject to approval of the shareholders by way of a special resolution through postal ballot and all other applicable statutory approvals. The buyback price of Rs 1,580 per share is at a discount of 9.66% to the stock's closing price of Rs 1,748.95 on Monday, 22 July 2013. Bayer CropScience's promoters own 71.11% stake in the company (as per the shareholding pattern as on 30 June 2013).
